Gold for European girls and bronze for boys

World Cadet Challenge in Poland’s Władysławowo

 

At the 2019 World Cadet Challenge in Poland’s Władysławowo, team of Europe won gold in Cadet Girls Team’s Event and bronze in Cadet Boys.

 

In the final of the Cadet Girls Team’s Event Europe prevailed in straight matches against team Hopes. Dorottya TOLGYES, Hana ARAPOVIC and Elena ZAHARIA beat SER Lin Qian of Singapore, Sophie EARLEY of Ireland and Emily TAN of USA. All matches concluded in four games.

In the semifinal, Europe overcame Asia. European champion Elena ZAHARIA of Romania lost to both, Korea’s LEE Yeonhui and Japan’s Kaho AKAE, but Hana ARAPOVIC of Croatia was successful in both encounters against same adversaries. Dorottya TOLGYES of Hungary added another point with the victory over ZHOU Jingyi of Singapore.

 

In the duel for third position Asia overcame Poland.

In the match for the third position of the Cadet Boys' Teams, European representatives, Denis IZUMRUDOV of Russia, Louis LAFFINEUR and Darius MOVILEANU beat Poland’s Mateusz ZALEWSKI, Milosz REDZIMSKI and Alan KULCZYCKI in straight matches.

 

Previously in the semifinal, Asia halted progress of the Europeans. Korea’s JANG Seongil beat Darius MOVILEANU of Romania, Japan’s Sora MATSUSHIMA overcame Louis LAFFINEUR of Belgium and India’s Payas JAIN prevailed against Simon BELIK of Czech Republic.

 

The Hopes Boys progressed to the final to meet Asia after they overcame Poland’s Milosz REDZIMSKI, Alan KULCZYCKI and Mateusz ZALEWSKI. Iulian CHIRITA proved his place among Singapore’s QUEK Yong Izaac and Yemen’s Ebrahim Abdulhakim GUBRAN. Previously in Group stage CHIRITA beat both Louis LAFFINEUR and Darius MOVILEANU to secure victory against team of Europe.
