China’s FAN Zhendong and SUN Yingsha are the crowned champions in the respective men’s and women’s singles event at the 2019 ITTF World Tour Platinum German Open, concluded today, October 12th, in ÖVB-Arena Bremen. Actual no.2 seed FAN beat his compatriot XU Xin (no.1) in five games, while SUN got revenge on Japan’s Mima ITO for the semi-final defeat she suffered last weekend in Swedish Open.

At the semi-final stage, FAN was extended to full distance by no.7 seed LIANG Jingkun. XU Xin, who leads in the Race to the ITTF World Tour Grand Final (December 12-15), overcame Korea’s JEOUNG Youngsik in five games.

It was FAN’s 12th ITTF World Tour title, but first one in this year. This title will secure him 500 points and rise from no.8 to no.4 at the current standings. However, XU cemented his no.1 spot, having 2044 points, followed by MA Long and LIN Gaoyuan (both now have 1425).

No.3 seed in Bremen, SUN Yingsha takes over women’s no.1 in the Race to Zhengzhou, with 1882 points, 282 more than World no.1 CHEN Meng. It was her third crown this year, after two Platinum events she won in Japan and Australia.
