The 2018/19 TTCLM runner-up UMMC won Russian Premier League
Russian club UMMC took national Premier League title for the fifth time in its history, as they beat Fakel Gazprom in two final games held in the city of Saint Petersburg, the host of the entire final tournament. Verkhnaya Pyshma side got revenge on Orenburg for recent defeat in the TTCLM final, when Vladimir SAMSONOV & Co. won both games 3:2. This time, UMMC secured 3:1 win in the first leg, while second one has been decided after third encounter, when Andrej GACINA and Jonathan GROTH have brought two wins to his team.
“As a coach, I can say that I am pleased with this season, as we played the final twice. Probably, Orenburg’s athletes are on a slightly higher level, but we proved that we are very serious team too. We also have a very good composition with an excellent team spirit. And we were close to win two titles. We beat last year’s TTCLM champion Borussianin the semis, but lost twice 3:2 in the final after big struggle. And now we won the Russian championship. I think everyone is happyin the club, because this season is the best in the history of the club”, stressed UMMC coach Zoran PRIMORAC.
UMMC was founded in 2007. Beside five crowns of Russian Premier League (2010, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019), they had one ETTU Cup title, 2013, and two TTCLM second places, 2012 and 2019.
