The draw for the 2018/19 TTCLM quarter-finals, held today, December 11th, set the reprise of the 2013/14 finals between AS Pontoise Cergy from France and Fakel-Gazprom Orenburg from Russia. Four years ago, French side upset Russian giant to clinch its very first title. Two years after, again Pontoise prevailed (5:4 on aggregate), but in the semi-final contest, what was crucial for their second and last TTCLM crown so far. Four-time winner Orenburg beat twice Pontoise last year within Group A, while next January and February we will see who will celebrate this time.
Orenburg’s Marcos FREITAS will approach the upcoming meeting with the mixed emotions, as he spent several wonderful years in Pontoise, leading them to the two TTCLM titles.
Reigning TTCLM champion and record holder, Borussia Dusseldorf faces Dartom Bogoria. German side targets its 12th title, while Poland’s club will try to reach its very first semi-finals. These two teams met in the groups stages few times in last couple of years and Bogoria was fatal for Timo BOLL & Co. in one occasion.
Post SV Muhlhausen already made history, reaching quarter-finals in its debuting season, but are they able to go one step forward? It will depend on the 2012 runner-up from Russia, TTSC UMMC.
Vaillante Sports Angers and SPG Walter Wels are going to play one against another with a same challenge: to make the best achievement in their history. Austrian side plays its very first quarter-finals.
