ECLW draw: Reigning champion against Clairefontaine
Quarter-final draw: Clairefontaine - Dr. CASL, Hodonin – Berlin, Metz - Linz AG Froschberg, Sporting - Tarnobrzeg
The quarter-final draw for the 2018/19 European Champions League Women set the clash between reigning champion Dr. CASL from Croatia and ECLW debutant from France, ETIVAL Clairefontaine. Other quarter-final pairs are following: SKST STAVOIMPEX Hodonin (CZE) – TTC Berlin Eastside (GER), Linz AG Froschberg (AUT) – Metz TT (FRA), Sporting Club de Portugal (POR) -KTS ENEA SIARKA Tarnobrzeg (POL).
One of two undefeated teams so far (beside Berlin), Dr. CASL (4-0 win-loss) enters the knockout phase as Group A no. 1, while Clairefontaine (2-2) finished second in Group B. Croatian side is clear favorite with its top-class players FU Yu, LI Jie, DOO Hoi Kem and NI Xialian.
Four-time ECLW champion TTC Berlin Eastside (4-0), best placed Group B team, faces Hodinin (3-1, no. 2 Group D). German side is favourite, but Czech Republic team showed its strength by beating away Tarnobrzeg 3:1.
Two-time ECLW winner Linz AG Froschberg (3-1, no. 1 Group C) will play against actual ETTU Cup Women champion Metz TT (2-2, no. 2 Group A), while two-time ECLW runner-up and current no. 2 seed Tarnobrzeg (3-1, no. 1 Group D) faces ECLW debutant Sporting Clube de Portugal (2-2, no. 2 Group C).
