England clinched bronze medals at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in both Men’s and Women’s Team Events.

In the match for bronze Paul DRINKHALL, Liam PITCHFORD and David MCBEATH recorded a three matches to nil win in opposition to the Singapore’s trio formed by GAO Ning, Ethan Poh Saho FENG and PANG Xue Jie

In the semis both Singapore and England had lost in contests that had gone the full five match distance; England was defeated by Nigeria.

“Certainly it was not easy to play so soon after the disappointment of losing to Nigeria but they are a good team, we knew before the tournament started that they were dangerous; the main thing is that we responded, we came back, that’s important.” Said Paul DRINKHALL

In the final, India’s Sharath Kamal ACHANTA, Sathiyan GNANASEKARAN and Harmeet DESAI beat Nigerian trio formed by Bode ABIODUN, Segun TORIOLA and Olajide OMOTAYO by three matches to nil.

In Women’s Teams Event England beat Australia to secure bronze. The trio of Tin-Tin HO, Kelly SIBLEY and Maria TSAPTSINOS recorded a three matches to one victory over the outfit formed by JIAN Fang Lay, MIAO Miao and Melissa TAPPER. It is the first time ever in the history of the Women’s Events at the the Commonwealth Games.
