In one week only, the 2017 LIEBHERR ITTF European Table Tennis Championships in Luxembourg will start. Therefor the media, partners and sponsors were invited one last time to be updated about the tournament, its organization and its supporting programme.

Jean-Marie LINSTER, the event director, had some good news for table tennis fans: “Life scoring is set up for all tables for those who cannot attend the event or want to have all results as quickly as possible. Furthermore, the action on two tables will be streamed online and TV broadcasting will start on Friday which means that the matches will be covered from the quarter-finals to the gold medal matches.”

“The budget, which was one of the big issues in the last months, will probably not be exceeded”, added Camille GONDERINGER, coordination director of the event. “3.500 tickets out of 8.500 are sold so far, so we still can improve in this field.”

With an attractive supporting programme including the exposition of the ETTU Hall of Fame, theme days, a Table Tennis Fun Park and Museum and much more, André HARTMANN, President of the organizing committee, is confident that the Championships will attract a lot of table tennis enthusiasts.

Ronald KRAMER, President of ETTU recognized the good work that has been done so far with a smile: "The European Championships didn't start yet, so nothing went wrong so far." He continued seriously that he really believes that Luxembourg will organise very good European Championships.

President KRAMER showed his appreciation for the support of the Luxembourg government for accommodating ETTU's headquarters.

"That is why we will celebrate our 60th anniversary in Luxembourg", KRAMER concluded.

As a special guest, HRH Prince Louis of Luxembourg attended the Press conference and followed the explanations with great interest as the 2017 LIEBHERR ITTF European Table Tennis Championships will be held under his auspices. After the presentation for media, special guests and His Royal Highness, the players of the Luxembourgish national teams as well as the organizing committee of the event had the great honour to be introduced to His Royal Highness who even demonstrated his table tennis skills against NI Xia Lian, member of the Luxembourgish national team.
