Historic win for Portugal table tennis

First match and first victory for any Portugal’s team in the TTCLM: Pontoise – Sporting 1:3

 

Sporting Clube de Portugal debuted in the Table Tennis Champions League Men in a superb style, beating away two times TTCLM winner AS Pontoise Cergy 3:1. This match, held Thursday night (Sep 28th), saw for the very first time any Portugal`s club in this prestigious competition.

 

Sporting upset 2014 and 2016 TTCLM champions, thanks to Joao MONTEIRO who beat both Can AKKUZU and his teammate from Portugal`s National Team Marcos FREITAS, while the third point came from Diogo CARVALHO against Niagol STOYANOV. African champion Aruna QUADRI lost to FREITAS in the opening encounter.
