Anastasia KOLISH and Kristina KAYANTSEVA secured Russia’s place among the top 8 teams in the Cadet Girls Teams Event at the European Youth Championships in Zagreb. In the Round of 16 they showed no mercy against Azerbaijan. In next round they will meet Hungary. In remaining quarters tomorrow, Romania against Ukraine, England will play against Slovenia and Germany against Poland.

In the team of Azerbaijan ZHOU Chuyi and CHEN Xingtai failed to deliver any victory.

“Players born in China, who plays for Azerbaijan now are very good and they are playing very fast table tennis. We were not afraid, we have great support here and we won easier then we thought. In next stage against Hungary, I think it will be very difficult,” said Kristina KAZANTSEVA.

At the bottom half of the draw, Poland succeeded against Sweden after four matches. Anna WEGRZYN won both her singles and doubles match.

Slovenia was starched to full distance before they succeeded against Spain. Carmen HENAREZ and Emma RUIZ even had advantage of 2:1, but in last two matches Katarina STRAZAR and Lea PAULIN prevailed without major difficulties.

Romania beat Belarus, Ukraine overcame Czech Republic and England prevailed against France, all by same margin – 3:1.
