The 2016 World Veteran Table Tennis Championships - Sold Out!

Registrations received above the number of 4 400 will be put on a waiting list in the order of date of entry

 

The 2016 World Veteran Table Tennis Championships continues breaking all records. The maximum number of players planned initially to participate at the Championships was 4 000. This number was exceeded before Christmas 2015. The Organizing Committee and the Swaythling Club International agreed then, to increase the number of players to a maximum of 4 400. Today, with 4 328 entries fully completed plus 72 still pending of the final payment the Organizing Committee announces that the World Veterans Championships are sold out. Registrations received above the number of 4 400 will be put on a waiting list in the order of date of entry. Vacancies will be filled from the waiting list.

 

Thomas WEIKERT has registered to participate at the World Veterans Championships. He cannot fully confirmed yet its participation till next month but, in any case, if his agenda allow him he would like to play in Alicante on May, being the first ITTF President participating at the World Veterans Championships. He has already chosen his doubles partner: Miguel Angel Machado, the President of the Spanish Federation. Petra SÖRLING, Executive Vicepresident (Finances) will also be present at the event; she registered already at the end of November 2015.

 

The Organising Committee and RENFE (the Spanish railway company) agreed that all participants at the 2016 World Veterans Championships travelling to Alicante by train during the period 22 to 29 May 2016 will get a 30% discount on national routes, one way or return ticket to the train stations of Alicante or Elche. The attached voucher should be shown at RENFE ticket offices to get the discount.

 

Mr. Gabriel ECHÁVARRI, Mayor of the city of Alicante, will meet with the Organizing Committee on Thursday, 14 January. On the agenda how to enhance the participation of the city of Alicante on the event. Alicante and Elche want to be ready to receive all participants by the end of May.

 

Two members of the World Veterans Championships Committee will visit Alicante/Elche this week-end. Mr. Hans WESTLING, Chairman of the Committee, and Mr. Michael THEISS, Computer expert, will hold several meetings with the Organizing Committee in order to prepare the event properly.
