Brilliant FREITAS unstoppable in Dusseldorf

Three more TTCLM matches of the 2015/16 TTCLM quarter-finals were held tonight: Borussia – Pontoise 2:3, Eslovs – Chartres 3:1, Saarbrucken – Olimpia Unia 1:3

 

Swedish Eslovs is unique host side who managed to win the first quarter-final leg of 2015/16 TTCLM, as they defeated the 2012 TTCLM runner-up Chartres AS TT 3:1. Other three matches belonged to the visitors: Borussia Dusseldorf – AS Pontoise Cergy 2:3, Saarbrucken – Olimpia Unia Grudziadz 1:3, UMMC Verkhnaya Pyshma – Fakel Gazproma Orenburg 1:3.

 

French champion and 2014 TTCLM winner Pontoise did a nice job in Dusseldorf, not just winning the game, but also making a good set-ratio for the returning clash on its soil. Marcos FREITAS played one of his best matches in the TTCLM, as he beat both, Patrick FRANZISKA and Timo BOLL in straight sets. In both matches Portuguese was unstoppable, but it was clear that BOLL is not in his best shape after three months break due to knee injury. 

 

BOLL opened showdown by close win against Kristian KARLSSON. Indian Kamal ACHANTA secured new lead for host side, as he overcame WANG Jian Jun in four sets. Kristian KARLSSON, who played as no. 3 in the previous two TTCLM editions, confirmed his big improve in decisive encounter, beating FRANZISKA in straight games. Swede saved two consecutive set balls in the second set.

 

Polish champion Olimpia Unia secured big advantage in Germany, playing against the 2012 TTCLM semi-finalist Saarbrucken. It was team work of guest`s side, as WANG Jang, Joshida KAII and Yaroslav ZHMUDENKO contributed with one point each. Tiago APOLONIA won unique game for the host team when he beat KAII after full five games. Japanese missed two set balls in the second set.

 

Chartres suffered it first defeat this season playing as a guest of the actual ETTU Cup winner. XU Hui did what he usually do, bringing two points to his team. Tonight he beat Par GERELL and GAO Ning who surprisingly lost both his matches (Robert SVENSSON beat him in the second encounter).
