OVTCHAROV finished third in Halmstad

World champion MA Long won LIEBHERR 2015 Men`s World Cup, having 4:0 victories against both, Dimitrij OVTCHAROV (semi-final) and FAN Zhendong (final)

 

European champion had no any chance to stop the best player on the planet in the semi-final of LIEBHERR 2015 Men`s World Cup in Halmstad: Dimitrij OVTCHAROV – MA Long 0:4 (4:11, 2:11, 7:11, 4:11).

 

Actual world champion and top seed in this event showed from the very beginning that he is strongly determined to go one step more than last year in Dusseldorf where he was beaten by compatriot ZHANG Jike in the duel for the title. And MA managed it today: in the final clash he overcame his teammate from Chinese national team FAN Zhendong, 4:0 (11:7, 11:6, 11:8, 11:8).

 

In the game for the third place, OVTCHAROV overcame Japanese Jun MIZUTANI 4:2 (11:9, 9:11, 11:9, 7:11, 11:9, 11:9). This is the best ever result of German at the World Cup events. In previous seven participations he had five quarter-finals.
