Big victory for Olimpia Unia, Borussia survived in Poland

Six TTCLM Round 4 matches are finished, as Eslovs and Chartres secured their quarter-final places as unique undefeated teams

 

Actual ETTU Cup winner Eslovs and 2013 TTCLM finalist Chartres secured their places in the 2015/16 TTCLM quarter-finals, staying as unique unbeaten teams after Round 4. Swedish club beat tonight KTS Energa Manekin Torun 3:1, while French side overcame STEN Ostrov Havlickuv Brod 3:2. Four more matches were held in the last couple of hours: Vaillante Sports Angers TT – FC Saarbrucken 1:3, Olimpia Unia Grudziadz – Wienviertel Niederosterreich 3:0, GV Hennebont TT – UMMC Verknaya Pyshma 1:3, Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki – Borussia Dusseldorf 2:3.

 

In the Group A, Saarbrucken beat Angers in France to continue toward next round with 2-2 score. German side was beaten in the first two rounds held at its home, but now was successful second time in a row playing away. Tiago APOLONIA contributed with two points, while Bojan TOKIC got one.

 

Olimpia Unia Grudziadz showed one of its best moments on European scene, as they beat the 2008 TTCLM champion Niederosterreich 3:0. It was a good team work of WANG Yang, Yoshida KAII and Yaroslav ZHMUDENKO who defeat Stefan FEGERL, HOU Yingchao and Daniel HABESOHN respectively. Both sides continue with two victories in Group B in which UMMC continues alone on the top. Russians defeated away Hennebont 3:1, thanks to new convinced play of Japanese Jun MIZUTANI.

 

Eslovs repeated his usual recipe for success, as each his player provided one point against KTS Energa Manekin Tourn – 3:1. Swedish team now has 4-0 score, while Polish side still waits for its first win.

 

Guests were successful in the Group D: Chartres in Czech Republic and Borussia in Poland. Dusseldorf`s club was faced with a tough task, playing again without Timo BOLL, but they managed to survive after 2:1 lead of Bogoria. Patrick FRANZISKA beat both, Jakub KOSOWSKI and Daniel GORAK. In the fifth, decisive encounter, GIONIS lost opening set against KOSOWSKI, but took next three in a row to bring very important victory for the ten times European champion.
