Maria TAYLAKOVA justified her status
Cadet from Russia clinched title in Singles
Maria TAYLAKOVA of Russia clinched the title in the Cadet Girl’s Singles Event. In the final she overcame Lucie GAUTHIER of France 4:1 (3, 7, -8, 9, 6).
“ I attacked her with good service and I was the player who was much more offensive. In addition GAUTHIER struggled with her service game. I have to admit I had much harder job in the semi final,” said TAYLAKOVA.
The most thrilling match in the semi final have been played between GAUTHIER and Andreea DRAGOMAN of Romania 4:3 (-11, 7, -6, -3, 5, 6, 11). After being 1:3 down, French player recovered to win.
“At 1:3 my coach encouraged me. He told me that Andreea is afraid of me and that I should take more risk. That is exactly what I did. She could not receive my service well and that gave me advantage,” explained GAUTHIER.
In other match of the penultimate stage TAYLAKOVA overcame Stina KALLBERG of Sweden 4:1 (9, 4, -7, 9, 8).
“Stina bat me in the team’s event 2:3. Her backhand was very dangerous so I changed the tactics. I played more on forehand. It opened the opportunity for me to attack more,” explained TAYLAKOVA.
