Great night for STEGER and Werder Bremen
In tonight`s TTCLM Round 1 matches winners are Borussia, Werder Bremen, UMMC, Angers and Chartres
Five more TTCLM Round 1 matches were held tonight and winners are Borussia Dusseldorf, Werder Bremen, UMMC, Angers and Chartres.
In Group D, the no. 2 seed Borussia beat Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki 3:1, as Timo BOLL was man of the match, beating OH Sang Eun and Daniel GORAK. Greek Panagiotis GIONIS provided third point for the host side in the sold out ARAG CenterCort (1100 spectators).
One more German club was successful. The 2014 Bundesliga winner Werder Bremen defeated on its soil the 2014 TTCLM champion AS Pontoise Cergy 3:2. The hero was Bastian STEGER who prevailed against two strong players WANG Jian Jun and Marcos FREITAS, twice in straight games. It was, maybe, STEGER`s best TTCLM performance so far.
Saarbrucken spoiled perfect German night, losing 3:2 at home from Angers. Jon PERSSON was a crucial man in French side, beating Tiago APOLONIA and Bojan TOKIC. The winning point secured Jens LUNDQVIST who was better than Slovenian player.
World`s no. 6 Jun MIZUTANI led UMMC to the victory against Hennebont in the Group B. Japanese stretched Kalinikos KREANGA to full distance in the opener, taking one more point against Dmitrij PROKOPCOV in four games.
French Chartres overcame STEN HB Ostrov 3:1 to join Borussia on the top of the Group D after Round 1.
