Kostas PAPAGEORGIOU continued his dominance and Katerina TOLIOU reached new hights. In the Greek National Championship for men and women completed on Sunday in STAG area of Peace and Friendship Stadium the captain of national team clinched the title in men’ singles event for the 6th time in a row and seventh in total while the athlete of D.A.O. Taurus reached the highest step of the podium first time in singles. Moreover PAPAGEORGIOU succeeded in the men’s doubles with his teammate in Olympiacos Tasos RINIOTIS. In women’s doubles Aliki KIOUFI and Eleni GEORGIADOU of D.A.O. Taurus captured the title.

The National Championship was dedicated to the memory of Damon DAMIANIDIS for many years curator of A.S. Pera Athens and member of the board of Hellenic Table Tennis Federation.

The big news is not that PAPAGEORGIOU raised his record. The news would be if he failed to win 1st place…The 36 year old champion set a very special record that may not appear in global scope! In last six years from 2010 to today he won all the finals without losing the game!!! Every year he meets a different opponent in the final has met experienced and young athletes but does not lose any set and has record 24-0! In addition to the six trophies in men’ s singles now has the record in the National Championship after five in a row that had belong Kostas PRIFTIS from 1982 to 1986.
