The Europe Youth Top 10 started today in the Municipal Center of Sports in Tours. Top juniors and cadets will be on duty next three days in France. All arrived well yesterday with one exception. European champion from Italy in junior girls singles Chantal MANTZ of Germany was forced to withdraw. Tin -Tin HO of England the 16-year-old was first reserve and she will play instead.

The head of German delegation in Tours Eva JELER was asked about the reasons for CHANTAL’s withdrawal. “I guess it is stomach flue. She has high fever and all other symptoms of viral infection. She got sick in very last moment before our trip ” explained JELER.

Late call caught HO at school. With Tin-Tin in school as normal and Tom JARVIS already en route to the Channel Tunnel accompanied by England National Coach Alan COOKE and Table Tennis England Chair Sandra DEATON there followed an almost military operation to ensure Tin-Tin could get to France.

“We called Tin -Tin’s mother so she informed player when she was in school. We organized the trip in short notice“ said ETTA Chair Sara DEATON

COOKE was stopped at Maidstone services while Tin-Tin’s family collected her from school and ensured she had the necessary kit.

“It was unexpected but I am so happy to be here ” stated no. 16 in Europe.

In Junior Girls Event will play also: Laura PFEFER of France Bernadett BALINT of Romania Lea RAKOVAC of Croatia Ekaterina GUSEVA and Maria MALANINA of Russia Natalia BAJOR of Poland WAN Yuan of Germany Pauline CHASSELIN and Audrey ZARIF of France.
