Chinese Taipei’s CHUANG Chih-Yuan and China’s FAN Zhendong the respective top two seeds in the Men’s Singles event at the GAC Group 2013 ITTF World Tour Polish Open in Spala duly booked their places in the penultimate round.

CHUANG Chih-Yuan beat Kaii YOSHIDA the no.24 seed (9:11 11:3 2:11 11:7 11:8 11:6); whilst FAN Zhendong ended the hopes of German qualifier Ruwen FILUS (11:13 11:8 11:7 11:9 11:7).

SHENG Dandan has continued her quite stunning progress in Poland. She booked her place in the semi-finals of the Women’s Singles event following a dramatic quarter-final victory. SHENG recovered from the very precipice of defeat to overcome compatriot HU Limei the no.23 seed in an all-China duel.

In the quarterfinal WEN Jia the no.12 seed accounted for LI Jiao of the Netherlands the no.4 seed in five games (8:11 11:8 11:9 11:5 11:9). In the same round Elizabeta SAMARA lost to Ai FUKUHARA of Japan.
