Polish KTS Zamek Tarnobrzeg facing great challenge in Women’s ETTU Cup final re-match. This weekend they will try to stop Turkish Fenerbahce on their way to win the title second year in the row. They had to do it in Istanbul after Fenerbahche succeeded in the opening leg 3:1.

Two weeks ago European champion Viktoria PAVLOVICH beat JIA Jun and Renata STRBIKOVA and HU Melek beat LI Qian. Only HAN Ying scored against Elizabeta SAMARA.

“We had pretty good draw, but unfortunately LI Qian did not play as good as she can. She could do better. That was the crucial match of the duel. We did not expect she will lose,” said coach Necek ZBIGNIEW.

HAN Ying seized the opportunity. However the victory did not come easy – 2:3 (1:11, 8:11, 12:10, 11:9, 8:11). “Well, it seemed that Han can beat SAMARA easily, but Romanian showed really hard character and Han had very difficult match after second set.”

The back bone of Turkish success was PAVLOVICH. “Renata STRBIKOVA played amazing match against Vika PAVLOVICH. Both played great, but Renata gave us hope for better result or even victory in Fenerbahce. Unfortunately Vika won.”

The odds are now on Turkish side. “In Tarnobrzeg we will try as hard as we can to win the match, but Fenerbahce showed that their players are in good shape and Vika seems to be unbeatable…” stated coach Necek ZBIGNIEW.
