Fakel Gazproma Orenburg continues its winning run in 2013/14 Men’s European Champions League beating at home LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen 3:0 in Round 5 of Group A. Reigning MECL champion dominated in group stage (4-0 score 12-3 individual matches) while the 2009 MECL winner lost all its three games 3:0 having now just mathematically chances.

In ultimate Round 6 (December 20th) German club must beat Angers at home better than 3:0 (9:2) to reach quarter final. Both sides played in different line-ups than in first meeting at Biberach (3:0 9:2 for Orenbugr). Fedor KUZMIN replaced Alexey SMIRNOV in Russian team whilst Simon GAUZY took the place of Kirill SKASCHKOV.

All three encounters are decided in straight games.

The actual single’s European champion Dimitrij OVTCHAROV defeated in opening match the 2004 Olympic champion RYU Seung Min who missed his last chance in second set.

Fedor KUZMIN played his very first MECL game this season beating Liam PITCHFORD. Russian controlled the match all the time.

The last encounter was held between long time European star Vladimir SAMSONOV and rising star Simon GAUZY. Three times Old Continent’s champion won but French boy didn’t disappoint.
