The first part of the table tennis tournament at the XVIIth Mediterranean Games in Mersin concluded with Turkey at the top of medals table. In both singles events they won three medals in total – gold, silver and bronze. Egypt is second with gold and Spain at position no. three with silver and bronze.

At the ultimate day of the singles event Omar ASSAR of Egypt overcame VANG Bora of Turkey in the final 4:0 (11:9, 11:6, 11:9, 11:9). In the match for bronze LI Ahmet of Turkey overcame HE Zhiwen of Spain 4;0 (11:4, 11:8, 11:7, 13:11).

In Women’s Singles final HU Melek of Turkey overcame Sara RAMIREZ of Spain 4:3 (11:3, 10:12, 5:11, 11:6, 12:10, 11:6). SHEN Yanfei of Spain clinched bronze. She beat LI Xue of France in battle for third place 4:0 (11:4, 11:5, 11:2, 11:8).
