Berlin Eastside beat SVS STROCK 3:2 in one of most exciting Women`s European Champions League matches to reach 2013/14 semis. Other semi finalists are reigning champion Linz AG Froschberg no. 1 seed Fenerbahce and best Polish club Zamek Tarnobrzeg

The group stage is closed by Round 6: Berlin – STROCK 3:2 Metz – Fenerbahce 1:3 Budaorsi 2i SC – Linz AG Froschberg 1:3 Zamek Tarnobrzeg – Tyumen 3:1.

The main question before this round was who will survive at Berlin in reprise of 2012 final (Berlin beat SVS STROCK). Austrian club announced this morning that Romanian star Daniela DODEAN is not able to play due to injury received during at one of last practices (meniscus right knee). She will have to pause for several weeks.

But the 2012 WECL runner-up arrived in Berlin without white flag. They led 2:1 after three matches. First actual individual European champion LI Fen beat SHAN Xiaona in fife games in remake of 2013 ECH final. Georgina POTA leveled against Petra LOVAS announcing her big night. New lead for Austrians came from Tetyana BILENKO who successfully replaced Daniela DODEAN beating Kristin SILBEREISEN in four sets. SHAN easily defeated LOVAS to provide fifth encounter.

LI Fen was clear favorite against Georgina POTA but Hungarian showed her best play in last two seasons. In last fifth set Hungarian missed three set balls (10:8 11:10) but then saved one (11:12). Finally POTA concluded the game by three points in a row.

Fenerbahce overcame Metz at France 3:1. Turkish champion secured semis last week while host side earlier missed last chance to progress in ETTU Cup. CHENG I-Ching took two points and Elisabeta SAMARA one.

Defending champion Froschberg completed first stage by sixth consecutive win in Group B. They beat Budaorsi at Hungary 3:1. These two clubs was 2012/13 WECL finalist but Budaorsi now has 0-6 score. The 2005 individual European champion LIU Jia won two games tonight beating Dora MADARASZ and Szandra PERGEL.

The 2012/13 ETTU Cup finalist Zamek overcame Tyumen twice this season 3:1 reaching for the very first time WECL semis. HAN Ying one of heroes at 2013 ECH was key figure tonight.
