Since ice-hockey has its open-air „Winter Classic“ Czech table-tennis players decided to present an exclusive match directly in front of shop windows. The Czech Table Tennis Association will organize a unique event. Last round match of the regular season of the men’s 1st League between SKST Liberec and Moravska Slavia Brno will be played at the Liberec’s FORUM Shopping Centre on Sunday March 25 at 10 a.m.

The promenade at the shopping centre will be equipped by special table-tennis court and appropriately illuminated in order for visitors to see table tennis in its top conditions.

Organizers intend to set a new spectator record among the official national table tennis matches as they expect more than 15 000 people to pass around the court during the matches. The last year record of Bundesliga the top attended competition in Europe was 4 800 spectators (according to the tischtennis.de).

The attempt is also juicy in regard to the match date –the very same day the World Team Championships begins in Dortmund Germany. Each visitor will receive a professional table-tennis ball. The winning team will draw 4 happy visitors who will get vouchers for free shopping in the Forum Centre.

Local RCL radio station prepares real highlight for its listeners: those who register during the match at the venue will have the chance to play table tennis against celebrities famous soccer player and European Champion Antonin PANENKA and MTV star DJ LUCCA who also frames the program with her music production. This star match will take place in the Shopping Centre during the Easter weekend on Saturday April 7.

Following the very successful 2011 European Veteran Championships the city under Jested mountain prepares another attractive events with the smallest ball.

Once more table tennis becomes one of the most popular sports in the Czech Republic. “We have organised European Youth Championships in Prague in 2009 Senior European Championships in Ostrava a year later and the triplet has been completed last year by the European Veterans Championships” reminds Zbynek SPACEK CTTA President. “It goes without saying we give green light to events like this.”
