Portuguese National Championships: MONTEIRO looking for 7th title

Joao04/03/2010 – This weekend (6th and 7th March) the North of Portugal Penafiel will be the host for Portuguese National Championships.

In the men’s singles event the top seeds are Jo?MONTEIRO and Tiago APOLONIA.

Tiago APOLONIA is the reigning champion and Jo?MONTEIRO is the most successful player in the last 20 years with 6 titles. That promises very exciting event for the gold medal.

The others players among the top eight seeds are: Andr?SILVA ?io MENDES Ricardo OLIVEIRA Ivo SILVA Diogo SILVA Artur SILVA.

In the girls event the reigning champion Huang LEI will not participate. Xie JUAN (3 titles) and Paula GON?VES (5 titles) are the most successful player who compete in the singles event.

The Doubles Event will be very interesting because of the possible brothers duel – Jo?MONTEIRO and Jos?MONTEIRO against Tiago APOLONIA and Jo?APOLONIA.
