06/03/2010 – In Round 1 of the Men’s Singles Event the bottom half of the draw was pretty uneventful as far upsets were concerned. In the top half Will MAYBANKS coming out on top against higher seed Michael MARDSEN fromTees sport who was made to work hard both on and off the court and Sean CULLEN getting the better of David McBEATH were the only events to go against the bookies odds.

Keeping the ETTA proud was the new Yorkshire Regional Development Manager Shaun MARPLES going through 4-2. In the The top half of the table saw clean sweeps from 3 out of the 4 whilst the bottom half all dropped one each. Jessica DAWSON supplied the big upset taking the much higher ranked Sanja CLEMENTS to seven ends before taking the win 4-3. Winners: Joanna PARKER Jessica DAWSON Emma VICKERS Hannah HICKS Natalie SLATER Karen SHEPHERD Lindsey REYNOLDS Kelly SIBLEY.

There were no real upsets in the first two rounds of the men’s doubles with all the top seeds getting ever closer to the silverware. Winners: P drinkhall/D KNIGHT S CULLEN/D LOWE K DOLDER/S NOUTCH C DORAN/M WARE L PITCHFORD/ G EVANS D MCBEATH/K DAYBELL M MARSDEN/M SIMPSON D REED/T YARNALL.
There were no surprises in the second round OF Women’S Doubles all of the favourites still in contention. Winners: PARKER/SIBLEY SHEPHERD/HALLOWS POTTS/COLLIER FULLER/BATES HICKS/REYNOLDS KING/ARMITAGE MORLE/DONNELY Le FEVRE/VICKERS.
