Dutch National Championships: Eindhoven waiting to host top stars

Timina04/03/2010 – This weekend in Indoor Sports Center in Eindhoven all top players will be in action at the Dutch national championships.

In the quarter finals of the women’s Event in the upper half of the draw there is a possibility of encounter between defending champion LI Jiao seeded no. one and Carla NOUWEN. In addition Linda CREEMERS (4) will probably face Ana GOGORITA. At the bottom of the draw a meeting between internationals LI Jie (2) and Elena TIMINA will be great match to watch.

The Men’s Event in the opening round defending champions QI Xiaofeng will meet Nermin SMAJIC and talented Hageraats KOEN (14) will play against ex-international player Daan SLIEPEN. Merijn de BRUIN finalist in 2009 starting against Henk Jan WILS.

Seeded no. two Michel de BOER has a tough draw. The winner of the last two editions of the Masters will meet Frank HOLLAK. Then he will play against veteran Cosmin STAN or CHEN Sung. Still further in the quarter finals the internationals Casper L??or WAI-Lung Chung may wait for him.

LI Jie / Elena TIMINA are top seeded in the Doubles Event. The pair managed last month to reach the final battle at the ITTF Pro Tour. In the quarter finals they may play against Simone De KLERK / Charell SCHOONBROOD or Christa BENIT / Rianne Van DUIN. Linda CREEMERS and Carla NOUWEN are no. 2 seeds.

Merijn de BRUIN and Frank RENGENHART will defend their gold medal in men’s doubles. Other contenders are the brothers Boris and Martijn De VRIES and QI Xiaofeng and Casper L??

Defending champion Frank RENGENHART and Yana TIMINA are at the top of the list of favorites in Mixed Doubles Event. Carla NOUWEN and Barry WIJERS the winners of the National Championship in 2005 are ranked as second. The full draw can be found at www.nttb.nl and www.nktafeltennis.nl.
