Diogo CHEN and Olga CHRAMKO National Senior Champions in Portugal

Olga CHRAMKO (ADC Ponta do Pargo) and Diogo CHEN (Sporting CP) were crowned national singles champions this Sunday after the conclusion of the National Individual Championship at the Municipal Pavilion of Vila Nova de Gaia a competition in which Sporting secured four podium finishes.

Olga CHRAMKO 47 clinched the title for the 4th time following her victories in 2016 2018 and 2020. She defeated Sporting’s PatrĂ­cia SANTOS 19 4-0 in the final. In the semifinals Olga CHRAMKO eliminated JĂşlia LEAL (15) with a 4-1 victory.

In the men’s event 28-year-old Diogo CHEN secured his 3rd national title (2016 2020 and 2024) defeating teammate Tiago ABIODUN 4-2 in the final. The Sporting athlete has been a national champion in all age categories.

In the doubles competition the new national men’s champions are Tiago ABIODUN and Rafael KONG (CTM Mirandela) while in the women’s category InĂŞs MATOS (CTM Mirandela) and Matilde PINTO (CTM Mirandela) claimed the top spot. In mixed doubles Tiago ABIODUN and PatrĂ­cia SANTOS emerged victorious.

“Endurance is necessary because there are many matches over two days. It is important not to think about age if we start thinking about age it’s not good because there are young girls here who play well raised the level and for me it’s enjoyable to play against them ” said Olga CHRAMKO.

Regarding her opponents in the singles event Olga CHRAMKO considered them all tough: “Raquel martins JĂşlia Leal and PatrĂ­cia SANTOS are very experienced and the matches were very difficult.”

Regarding table tennis the athlete stated “I like being a player I like being a coach I like being in the hall watching the matches I like watching games on video. Table tennis is an important part of my life.”

The Portuguese international Diogo CHEN said:

 “I knew I had a big goal; we all came to win. This championship had players of a very good level. I am very happy to have been able to beat my teammates in the national team. We know each other very well we train together and we know what to expect. I am also very happy to have won against Tiago. I had lost to him in the Championship before but this time I was more prepared I knew what to do. I am also very happy for him; it was a very very good match. He has been evolving a lot and I think it was a great table tennis spectacle.”
