rünwettersbach Successful in Their Debut

In the Europe Cup Men ASV Grünwettersbach made their international debut in the club’s history and managed to win their group on home soil in Karlsruhe Group D.

In Group A played in Zoetermeer De Boer Taverzo made a successful return to the European Cup after a two-year break. They secured two wins against the Spanish Club TDM Monte Porreiro and Malta’s MITT. The Dutch club was represented by Yevhen PRYSEHCHEPA Ivan KAHN and Milo DEBOER. Spanish Monte Porreiro is currently second in the standings with one win.

On Saturday the number one player of MITTC (Malta) proved to be a tough challenge for both Ivan KAHN and Ievgen PRYSHCHEPA thanks to the excellent play of Amirreza ABBASI a player of Iranian descent. The two losses added pressure to the Zoetermeer team. However all three players did what was expected of them in advance by defeating the two players from Malta.

The team from the Spanish Super Division TDM Monte de Porreiro also showed its determination to claim the group win. They defeated MITTC 3-0 making the final match decisive.

Yannick VOSTES who had recently joined the team set the tone for the afternoon. Martin BETANCOR (Argentina) who had earlier impressed with a win over ABBASI was defeated convincingly with impressive play and sheer force. Ievgen PRYSHCHEPA and Milo de BOER followed suit and the Zoetermeer team did not surrender a single set in a very convincing manner.

In Group B held in Croatia’s Varazdin the Spanish team C.E.R Robin Hat Prisco L’Escala emerged successfully at the top of the standings with three wins over TED Sports Club from Turkey TJ Geolog Roznava from Slovakia and STK Starr Croatia. TJ Geolog Roznava finished second. The winning club included Ikar GONZALES YEH Wie Chih and Xavier PEARL.

In Group C in Linz Real Club Cajasur Priego from Spain overcame Austria’s SPG Linz and the French Lille Metropole TT. The French club secured the second spot in the group. Real Club Cajasur Priego featured Hampus SODERLUND Carlos FRANCO and Carlos MACHADO.

In Karlsruhe Germany the hosts celebrated the victory of their representative ASV Grünwettersbach. Deni KOZUL Rafel TURRINI SHIM Joon and Aljaz GODEC prevailed against the players from Slovakia’s SK Vydrany and the Spanish Club Burgos TDM / UBU – TPF. Burgos finished second in the group.
