Emilia Kijok: Outsider in Oman favourite in Sandefjord

In the World´s Championships in Oman in January 2023 Poland’s Emilia KIJOK caught the spectators attention with her offensive and fearless play that made her reach the podium in both Singles and Doubles. That might have been a surprise for some players outside Europe but at the European Veterans Championships in Sandefjord she is the favourite.

KIJOK plays for the Zielona Góra (means Green Berg in English) Table Tennis Club a team that was promoted to the top league in Poland just a couple of weeks ago. She played for top tier Bundeliga clubs such as TuS Bad Driburg and she has played table tennis for 38 years. Table tennis is such an important part of her life so besides her job as a physioterapist table tennis occupies the rest of her time.

Emilia KIJOK has started well in Sandefjord as well winning all her matches in Singles losing only one set and in Doubles with her friend Dorota BORKOWSKA also from Poland.

KIJOK has prepared very well for the Championships and has also focused on the mental part of training. Her ambitions are nothing less than winning. With her focus and dedication and support from the big polish crowd in Sandefjord that might very well happen.
