Hannah SILCOCK put a new milestone for Jersey

At the Under 15 events at the 2022 Dunav Osiguranje European Youth Championships in Belgrade Hannah SILCOCK put a new milestone for Jersey. For a first time Jersey’s player recorded the victory in the main draw.

In the Singles event SILCOCK reached the Round of 32 whilst in doubles with Sienna JETHA of England she is in 16. In Mixed doubles with Larry TRUMPAUSKAS also of England SILCOCK played in Round of 16.

In the Round of 64 in Singles Hannah beat host nation representative Teodora GOJKOV 4:2 (11:13 11:1 11:8 11:7 9:11 11:4).

“Teodora is a player with a very aggressive style of play. She attacked a lot but I managed to slowed her down and to forced her into the longer rallies ” explained Hannah.

In mixed doubles she teamed up with Larry TRUMPAUSKAS for a first time at this tournament and instantly it resulted in the elimination of the top seeds Rares Lucian CUESDEAN and Bianca MEI ROSU of Romania in the Round of 32.

“We never played with each other together so we needed some time to used to each other. We were cautious at the beginning letting top seeds showed their weak and strong points and then we attacked “explained Hannah.

In the next round they lost to French pairings Antoine Jean Christian NOIRAULT and Nina GUO ZHENG. However SILCOCK is still play with Sienna JETHA in Doubles. In second Round they overcame Olha PONKO of Ukraine and Beatriz PINTO of Portugal in full five games.

“It was very close match. We were 1:2 down and we won the fourth game 20:18 furthermore in fifth it was 12:10 ” reported SILCOCK.

SILCOCK is still living in Jersey but very often she is coming to England for trainings.

“ I started when I was 10 but after age of 13 I was allowed to join the England team on their sessions. It improved my game a lot ” said SILCOCK.
