Linz AG Froschberg won the thriller in Poland

The opening leg of the semi final of the TAMANNEFTEGAS European Champions League Women in Poland between KTS Enea Siarkopol Tarnobrzeg and Austria’s Linz AG Froschberg concluded in favor of the guests after full five matches. The return leg of this thrilling duel will be played on Wednesday. The winner of the other semi final is TTC Berlin eastside.

In the match at the edge of the knife LIU Jia beat YU FU to give the guests from Austria dream start. The clash between LIU Jia who was the European singles champion in 2005 and Portugal’s YU FU who won the European silver in 2016 went from one side to another but overall LIU controlled it much better from the beginning.

Bronze medalists from European championships in Alicante Sofia POLCANOVA lost the opening game against YANG Xiaoxin but she shifted up a gear to force Monaco’s player into errors. After two opening games went straight forward to Poland’s and then to Austria’s side third brought much closer duel. YANG had 6:1 advantage before POLCANOVA recovered and then they played point for point before Sofia won 12:10. In fourth game POLCANOVA dominated.

Another European champion (from 2015) but this time in KTS Enea Siarkopol Tarnobrzeg’s jersey played tonight. Elizabeta SAMARA faced Suthasini SAWETTABUT from Thailand. SAMARA lost the opening game but put Sutshasini under pressure in next. After Thai player saved one game point Elizabeta remained focused and leveled. In next game SAMARA was in full control but in forth pendulum swung once again – SAWETTABUT pushed into the decisive game. Despite problems with her back SAMARA recorded victory and changed the course of the match.

On her second exit to the table YU Fu was forced to go full distance against POLCANOVA but this thriller went to her account. YANG Xiaoxin and LIU Jia also needed to go full five games before Austria’s player sealed the match.
