Gold for Iulian CHIRITA at the TAMANNEFTEGAS European Youth Top 10

After two silver medals in previous two years Iulian CHIRITA of Romania finally clinched gold at the Cadet Boys Event at the TAMANNEFTEGAS European Youth Top 10 in Tours. In three days of play he remained unbeaten. His compatriot Dragos Alexandru BUJOR is second with one win less whilst Tom CLOSSET of Belgium reached third position. He lost two matches.

“Finally I reached gold. I played in 2019 and 2020 at Top 10 also I played in the final of the Singles and Doubles event earlier this year at the European Youth Championships in Varazdin but I missed the main prize at the last hurdle. Now I have first gold at he big European event. It gives me great confidence for the future ” said CHIRITA.

In previous three days Romania’s player faced few difficulties.

“It was very hard to play against my teammate Dragos Alexandru BUJOR. I had 3:0 he recovered to level and then I won the seventh game 11:7. Also it was difficult to play against David SZANTOSI on the second day. All the games finished by the narrowest of margin ” explained CHIRITA.
