KTS Tarnobrzeg upsets the odds in Linz

It was long and successful day for the no two seed in Group D in the Stage 2 of the 2021/2022 TAMANNEFTEGAS European Champions League Women in Linz. Poland’s KTS Tarnobrzeg  upset the odds and beat last year’s runners up and hosts Linz AG Froschberg. At the opening day of the tournament KTS Tarnobrzeg clinched two victories whilst Linz concluded the day with semi success – one win and one defeat.

In the morning session Polish KTS Tarnobrzeg showed no mercy against Ttc Moravsky Krumlov – 0:3. HAN Yina and Xiaoxin YANG won their matches in straight games against Eliska SEDOVA and Bernadett BALINT whilst YU Fu needed one more to overcame Daniela RUZICKOVA.

Linz AG Froschberg beat Saint-Denis US 93 Tennis de Table in four matches and it was only Prithika PAVADE who put hosts under pressure. Sofia POLCANOVA overcame Camille LUTZ in straight games Margaryta PESOTSKA beat Leili MOSTAFAVI also recorded 3:0 victory but Suthasini SAWETTABUT failed against PAVADE in the second match. However on her second exit to the table PAVADE failed to repeat the success against experienced LIU Jia. LIU was 0:1 in reverse but next three games she won by narrow margin to give Austria’s team good start of the tournament.

However the last match of the day inflicted the pain into the hearts of the hosts supporters. HAN Ying YU Fu and YANG Xiaoxin showed no weak spots against Sofia POLCANOVA Margaryta PESOTSKA and Suthasini SAWETTABUT.
