Day for thrillers in Berlin and Metz

Reigning champions ttc Berlin Eastside had a tough matches at the opening of the 2021/2022 TAMANNEFTEGAS European Champions League Women Stage 2. In Group A hosts were stretched to full distance against CP Lyssois Lille Métropole and against SH-ITB Budaörsi Sport Club.

Linda BERGSTROM overcame Europe Top 16 Cup winner Nina MITTELHAM at the beginning of the match between ttc Berlin Eastside and CP Lyssois Lille Métropole. Swede also repeated the success against SHAN Xiaona but both SHAN and Nina prevailed against Sibel ALTINKAYA. In all-Serbian duel in five games Sabina SURJANA overcame Andrea TODOROVIC.

In second match same trio from the Berlin’s club faced tough challenge from Hungarian side led by Georgina POTA. POTA beat Nina MITTELHAM in five games whilst she needed only three for SHAN.

Last year’s runners up in the Europe Cup SH-ITB Budaörsi Sport Club also faced very strong opposition in the opening duel in the Group. GDCS Juncal forced Hungarian club to go full distance but both points came from just one player Tatiana GARNOVA. Tatiana beat Maria FAZEKAS in the opening encounter of the match and then overcame Georgina POTA in five games. On the other side of the net all three players from SH-ITB Budaörsi Sport Club scored. POTA and FAZEKAS beat Raquel ANDRADE and Helga DARI prevailed against Janet EFFIOM.

Clubs that had the big success in the Europe Cup previously Girbau-Vic TT and TTC Novi Sad met today in the opening round of the Group B. Novi Sad created an upset and overcame Spanish side. All three players from Serbia Tijana JOKIC Aneta MAKSUTI and Radmila TOMINJAK scored whilst in Spanish club it was only Sofia XUAN ZHANG who won one match. Girbau VIC lost to Metz day earlier.

Adina DIACONU added two wins today to her score board to push Metz to five matches win against SKST PLUS Hodonin. In the decisive encounter Mariia TAILAKOVA overcame Tetyana BILENKO.
