ITTF Executive Committee: July update on COVID-19

The ITTF Executive Committee met on Friday 10th July 2020 to discuss the latest situation for international table tennis amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon receiving a comprehensive update report from the COVID-19 Task Force which was set up to monitor the global situation closely and after deliberations with key stakeholders here are the key outcomes reached during the meeting:

• The Hana Bank 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Busan Korea Republic will be staged between 28 February and 7 March 2021.

• Due to decreasing probability of international events being staged according to the original plan in 2020 the ITTF will therefore attempt to stage “bubble” or regionally based events during the remainder of the 2020 calendar working around ever-changing international travel restrictions.

• The Home of Table Tennis tender process which was postponed indefinitely in late March has confirmed revised timelines. The tender team will be reaching out to those cities which have expressed interest in the coming days to inform them about the revised process.

The ITTF Executive Committee will meet again on Friday 28th August 2020 and will continue to provide further updates on all upcoming decisions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
