Sporting and Villeneuvois reach semis

Return leg of the 2019/20 Europe Cup quarter-finals

 

Sporting Clube De Portugal and Ping Pong Club Villeneuvois have booked their places for the 2019/20 Europe Cup Men semi-finals as they eliminated CSS-SZAK Odorheiu Secuiesc and Benelux Group Taverzo respectively. Sporting repeated last year’s success when it reached semis for the very first time.

 

Sporting Clube De Portugal beat once again CSS-SZAK Odorheiu Secuiesc this time 3:2 (1st leg 3:1). Everything was decided after first two encounters when host side led 2-0. Quadri ARUNA beat Sebastian LOSO in the opener and Diogo CARVALHO prevailed against György SZILÁRD. Both matches were decided in straight games. Guests tied the score at 2-2 (Cservik KRISZTIÁN overcame Guilherme PAULO György SZILÁRD won 3:0 w.o. as ARUNA wasn’t able to play due to illness). The clash was concluded by Diogo CARVALHO win over Sebastian LOSO 3:0 (11:8 11:3 11:9).

 

Ping Pong Club Villeneuvois beat Benelux Group Taverzo 3:1 (6:1 on aggregate) on home soil to progress into semi-finals. Vildan GADIEV beat both Yannik VOSTES and Laurens TROMER who leveled the score at 1-1 by beating Cedric LEPAGE. Nima ALAMIAN was extended to full distance by Dorian NICOLLE in the third encounter.
