Ricardo WALTHER and Nina MITTELHAM crowned champions in front of 3 800 fans in Chemnitz

German National Championships

 

Nina MITTELHAM was the most successful participant of the 88th German National Championships concluded today March 1st in the sold out Richard-Hartmann-Halle in Chemnitz. Berlin’s player defended her singles crown and added another title in the Women’s Doubles event.

 

One of the most talented European players MITTELHAM was extended to full distance by Kristin LANG in the exciting final clash but managed to win four games in a row last two by a narrow margin.

 

Ricardo WALTHER is the first Men’s Singles champion in the post-Timo BOLL era (German legend retired from the national championships last year after his 13th title). WALTHER overcame Benedikt DUDA 4:2 (4 3 7 -8 -7 8) to secure his first title.

 

In total 3 800 people have enjoyed in 88th edition of German National Championships in two days.
