EVANS and CAREY head the men and women seeding lists in Wales

 

The Butterfly Welsh Table Tennis Championships start tomorrow and players from all parts of Wales will come to Sport Wales National Centre to battle it out.

 

Callum EVANS and Charlotte CAREY head the men and women seeding lists as Welsh number 1’s and defending champions.

 

CALLUM is aiming to add another title to the three he won in 2017 2018 and 2019. Second seed is his brother Louie EVANS. Whilst others to watch out for will be Jacob YOUNG Marc CASTRO Chris GRIFFITHS Ryan OWEN and Josh STACEY.

 

Charlotte has won the women’s singles five times already and is trying to add a 6th on Sunday. Charlotte is just one title behind both Bethan DAUNTON & Natasha HURD (6 wins) and 3 behind Naomi OWEN (9) who has the record. Players trying to take their first title include Anna HURSEY Lara WHITTON Beth RICHARDS & Danielle KELLY. Chloe THOMAS is also a top seed and a former champion winning in 2015.

 

Other events to keep an eye on will be the Junior Singles where Louie EVANS and Anna HURSEY are favorites. In the cadet singles Rhys HETHERTON & Anna HURSEY head the list. Louie EVANS & Anna HURSEY will try to add more titles in the U21 singles but in that category as in the Junior & cadet singles there will be loads of opponents trying their best to upset the seedings. They include Sasha LEWIS Ruby ELLIOTT Evan O’CONNOR Jacob YOUNG Lara WHITTON Beth RICHARDS Grace CLEMENT Danielle KELLY Lauren STACEY Harri DOCHERTY Oscar MARRIOTT and Toby HARWOOD to name a few.

 

Other categories happening are the U11 U13 Vets 40 Vets 50 Vets 60 & Vets 70s. There is junior doubles senior doubles and mixed doubles to keep the spectators happy all weekend.
