Professional athletes usually does not have much time to spend with their family so the period of pandemic gave them opportunity to be with the love ones and to enjoy less frantic life style. Russia’s Kirill SKACHKOV is not the exception.
“I am fine. Right now I stay at home with my family in Moscow. I did not play table tennis for around 3 weeks already. I just practice at home and make some fitness trainings and stretching. I hope the situation is going to improve and soon we will be able to start playing again.
Like most of kids Kirill who has been born in Novokuznetsk was introduced to table tennis in the club close to his home.
“Close to my home was table tennis club I just came to try and I liked it. I became professional player at age of 15 when I moved to other city and much bigger club.”
The success came early. He becomes Russia’s national champion as a junior player. In 2011 he won a silver medal in the doubles event at the European Championships. He was also the member of the Russian men’s team at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
“The moment when I become the member of the Russia’s national team for the Team’s World Championships in Bremen in 2006 is one of the greatest memories. “
Kirill also spoke about greatest happiness but not related to the professional career.
“The birth of my son Makar in 2013 is the most precious moment of my life.”
Which country impressed you the most?
“Italy is incredible beautiful country.”
Player?
“Vladimir SAMSONOV.”
Great regret?
“I lost in Doubles quarterfinal at the World Championships in Dusseldorf 2017.”
What is your goal for future?
“I will try to increase popularity of table tennis in my country and I hope in future Russia will be leading country in this sport. On personal level I hope to win the medal at European Championships to qualify for Olympic Games and to return to top 30 in the World.”
