Cup Benelux Group Taverzo secured fourth round

Europe Cup Round of 16

In the Round of 16 of the men’s Europe Cup Benelux Group Taverzo justified their opening leg win and overcame TTC Swiss Neuhausen even faster than in Netherlands. Clube Desportivo Sao Roque lost in the opening leg against CSS-SZAK Odorheiu Secuiesc but at home they showed no mercy.

After the earlier 3-1 win at home against TTC Neuhausen the table tennis team from Zoetermeer managed to reach the next round without a set loss in Switzerland. The Frenchman Dorian NICOLLE who has been playing for the team for 3 years now was the first to play against the German youngster Pekka PELZ. PELZ was able to surprise Laurens TROMER in Zoetermeer and Dorian NICOLLE also had the trouble to disrupt Pelz’s pace at the start of the game. Dorian however managed to reverse a 9-6 deficit with 5 points in a row and from that moment did not let the match slip away.

ZHOU Xijun who was somewhat uncomfortable with his debut last week left no doubt as to why he plays for the Benelux Group team in the Europe Cup. With a 3-0 win over Elias HARDMEIER the next round was a fact.

Dutch Masters winner Laurens TROMER then played against Mauro Schärrer and met an opponent who with fierce takeovers dragged the first game after game points back and forth.  In the second game Laurens managed to eliminate 2 game points and level the score after which he did not allow the young Swiss to play his game anymore and recorded the maximum win for Benelux Group Taverzo on the scoreboard.

In the next round of the European Cup the Dutch team will meet the Spanish Borges Vall.

Belgium’s TTC Sokah Hoboken overcame Arteal Tenis De Mesa to justified their win in the opening round.

ASSSA Alicante TDM beat DT Nidderkäerjeng in straight matches once again. Only Anelia LUPULESKU managed to win one game against Paulina VEGA.

ASD Quattro Mori Cagliari and Turkish Kocasinan BELEDIYESI SPOR CLUB played both legs of the Round this weekend and in both encounters Italian side won. Betul Nur KAHRAMAN beat Mihaela Suzana ENCEA in first match but that was the only point for Turkish side. Andreea KLAPA and Jian WEI were unbeaten.

With two straight matches wins over ACS Dumbravita French club ALCL TT Grand-Quevilly secured their place in next round.
