Estonian Igor SOLOPOV passed away

Table Tennis Federation of Russia announced death of Igor SOLOPOV. He was 58. Born in Estonia SOLOPOV lived in Sweden since many years.

 

Igor was a fantastic defensive player could create more spin than maybe anyone to this date and even more a fantastic and kind person. On his record among many things is the win against at the time the World champion GATIEN. Several stars as Jorgen PERSSON and Ulf Tickan CARLSON have payed their respects to Igor’s memory on Facebook.

 

SOLOPOV (17 April 1961 – 12 June 2019) was born in Magnitogorsk Russian SFSR. He competed for Estonia in the men’s singles event at the 1992 Summer Olympics. SOLOPOV competed at seven World Table Tennis Championships. He also won a bronze medal with the Soviet men’s team at the 1978 European Table Tennis Championships.
