ECLW: Lille Métropole wins but Girbau advances

2019/20 European Champions League Women Round 6

Girbau-VIC made history by reaching quarter-finals in its very first ECLW season. In the concluding group stage clash held in France Spanish team lost to CP Lyssois Lille Métropole 3:2 but advanced into the knockout stage. Both sides finished with the 1-3 win-loss record in Group A.

Sofia-Xuan ZHANG once again provided two points for Girbau defeating the same opponents like in the first leg Andrea TODOROVIC and Dora MADARASZ. First match has been won by Spanish side 3:1 (10:6 in games) hence the rematch was decided after the third encounter as Lille Métropole led in that moment 2:1 (6:6). It was a meeting of two Europe Cup finalists in the previous two seasons.
