HU Melek doesn’t defend European title

LIEBHERR 2018 ITTF European Championships in Alicante Spain (18-23 Sep 2018)

 

HU Melek from Turkey will not defend her Women’s Singles title she won two years ago in Budapest Hungary! There is no her name at the Participants ‘ list of the LIEBHERR 2018 ITTF European Championships in Alicante Spain (18-23 Sep 2018).

 

“For some reason I will not participate in this European Championship” it was short statement of actual World no. 57 for the ETTU website.

 

HU Melek showed incredible table tennis two years ago defending FU Yu from Portugal in the gold medal contest 4:1 (11:3 11:2 11:4 10:12 11:7) and prior that LI Jie in straight games. LI Jie of Netherlands and Elizabeta SAMARA of Romania won bronze medals.

 

There are three Turkish names at the Participants` list for Alicante: Ozge YILMAZ (no. 211) Sibel ALTINKAYA (no. 278) and Betul Nur KAHRAMAN (no. 515).
