ECLW Round 1: Superb start of Linz AG Froschberg

Austrian team beat Sporting Club de Portugal 3:0 in the Group C

 

Young and promising team of Linz AG Froschberg won Round 1 game in the 2018/19 ECLW playing at home against newcomers from Portugal. Two-time ECLW winner lost just one set against Sporting Club de Portugal.

 

Sophia POLCANOVA defeated Daniela DODEAN MONTEIRO in straight games of the opener. Best ranked European player at the ITTF ranking list no. 15 continued her good performances from the recent 2018 ITTF-European championships where she took the bronze.

 

World no. 40 Hong Kong`s SOO Wai Yam Minnie overcame LI Fen in four sets. The 2013 individual European champion LI won the opening set but next two lost by a narrow margin what was crucial. Linda BERGSTRÖM confirmed victory of Austrian side as she defeated Zhengi APOLONIA GARTHEL 3:0 (11:4 13:11 11:5).
