Who Will Be Crowned Table Tennis Stars at the Incheon 2018 ITTF Star Awards Tonight?

The world’s biggest table tennis stars have gathered in the Korean city of Incheon ready to be in their finest for the highly anticipated annual ITTF Star Awards and Gala Dinner to be held tonight 12 December 2018 at the Grand Hyatt Incheon Hotel.


 
Now in its sixth edition the ITTF Star Awards represent the most prestigious individual prizes and a celebration of the best players’ and coaches’ international achievements over the course of 2018 as well as their popularity gained among table tennis fans around the world.

The evening of glitz and glamour will witness the crowning of Table Tennis Stars in seven categories:

Male Table Tennis Star presented by DHS

  • Timo Boll (GER): 2018 European Champion; 2018 Men’s World Cup Runner-up; Oldest ever World no.1 at 36 years 11 months.
  • Hugo Calderano (BRA): 2018 Pan American Cup Champion; 2018 Qatar Open Runner-up; First ever Latin American to enter World Top 10.
  • Fan Zhendong (CHN): 2018 Hungarian Qatar & Swedish Open Champion; 2018 Men’s World Cup Champion; End-of-year World no.1.
  • Tomokazu Harimoto (JPN): 2018 Japan Open Champion; 2018 Youth Olympic Games Runner-up; Youngest ever male player to enter World Top 10 at 14 years 10 months. 

Female Table Tennis Star presented by Nittaku

  • Ding Ning (CHN): 2018 Team World Cup Champion; 2018 Women’s World Cup Champion; 2018 World Team Champion.
  • Mima Ito (JPN): 2018 Japan & Swedish Open Champion; 2018 World Team Championships Runner-up; 2018 Team World Cup Runner-up.
  • Li Qian (POL): 2018 European Champion; 2018 European Championships Women’s Doubles Quarter-finalist; First ever Polish player to win gold medal at European Championships.
  • Wang Manyu (CHN): 2018 Hungarian Hong Kong & China Open Champion; 2018 Team World Cup Champion; 2018 World Team Champion. 

Male Para Table Tennis Star presented by Tinsue

  • Fabien Lamirault (FRA): 2018 Class 2 World Champion; 2018 Slovenian Open Bronze medallist.
  • Jordi Morales (ESP): 2018 Class 7 World Champion; 2018 Spanish Open Runner-up.
  • Florian Van Acker (BEL): 2018 Class 11 World Champion; 2018 Slovenian Open Runner-up. 

Female Para Table Tennis Star presented by Stag

  • Seo Su Yeon (KOR): 2018 Class 2 World Champion.
  • Xue Juan (CHN): 2018 Class 3 World Champion; 2018 Para Asian Games Class 3 Champion.
  • Kelly Van Zon (NED): 2018 Class 7 World Champion; 2018 Slovenian Spanish & Lignano Master Open Champion; Completed 35 months as World no. 1.

Table Tennis Star Coach presented by Butterfly

  • Massimo Costantini (ITA): Led the Indian National team to record-breaking results at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2018 Asian Games.
  • Ulf Karlsson (SWE): Led the Swedish National team to the bronze medal at the 2018 World Team Championships in Halmstad.
  • Jörg Rosskopf (GER): Coached Timo Boll to his seventh European Championships title; Coached Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Boll on their journeys to World no. 1 in 2018.

Table Tennis Breakthrough Star presented by Monday Club

  • Manika Batra (IND): 2018 Commonwealth Games Champion; 2018 Asian Games Bronze medallist.
  • Bernadette Szocs (ROU): 2018 European Top 16 Cup Champion in Switzerland after winning the European Team Championships last year; Significant jump in the World Ranking and becoming Romania’s no. 1 player.
  • Jang Woojin (KOR): First ever ITTF World Tour triple champion at the 2018 Korea Open taking the Men’s Singles Men’s Doubles as well as the Mixed doubles title with his Unified Korea partner Cha Hyo Sim; World Team Championships bronze medallist.
