Reigning champion set to defend top spot

TTCLM Round 6: Borussia Dusseldorf hosts AS Pontoise Cergy in the Group A (Dec 7 19:30)

Two club that won six TTCLM titles in total in the last ten years Borussia Dusseldorf and AS Pontoise Cergy are going to fight for the top spot of Group A this Friday December 7th (19:30). Reigning champion and 11-time winner Borussia hosts 2014 and 2016 winner Pontoise as both sides have 4-1 win-loss record. German side won their first clash 3:1 thanks to Timo BOLL who beat Can AKKUZU and Mattias FALCK.

“It could have been easier for us if we won all matches but now we are equal to Pontoise” stated Timo BOLL recalling unexpected 3:2 defeat in Lisbon in the round 5. “We know that we need to play better than in Portugal and I am sure we will. I feel match better than last week when I played the first match after my injury. Pontoise has got a strong team especially Mattias FALCK is playing excellent in the last months but also Can AKKUZU and Tristan FLORE are playing very good at the moment. We won the duel against the French team away where it is very difficult to win and so we are looking forward positive.”

Borussia’s coach Danny HEISTER explains:

“We are very unlucky that we lost in Sporting last round. We had the chance to win and to have an advantage for the group final against Pontoise on Friday. But the situation now is that both teams need to win reach the quarter finals as winner of group A. We want to win our group so we will fight to win against Pontoise. We play in our ARAG CenterCourt and with our supporters which will stand behind us. So I am looking forward with a good feeling.”

All eight Round 6 matches to be held this Thursday and Friday (Dec 6-7th) and all eight quarter-finalists will be decided.
