Hungary defeats Austria

Stage 1 of 2018-19 ITTF European Team Championships

 

Hungary has recorded its very first win in the Stage 1 of 2018-19 ITTF European Team Championships as they prevailed against Austria 3:2. Promising host side with all three players from the STAG 2017 European Under 21 Championships in Sochi showed strong team spirit in front of about 300 domestic fans in Ormai Hall in Budapest.

 

Hungary led twice in first four encounters as Bence MAJOROS and Nandor ECSEKI beat Robert GARDOS and Stefan FEGERL respectively but Daniel HABESOHN leveled score both times against Adam SZUDI and MAJOROS.

 

Decisive duel was one between Adam SZUDI 2014 European YCH Junior Doubles winner with ECSEKI and Robert GARDOS. Host won after full five games to provide important win to Hungary.
