2017 ITTF World Junior Championships commences in Riva del Garda

Championships will be held from November 26th to December 3rd

 

The 2017 ITTF World Junior Championships commences on Sunday November 26th in Riva del Garda Italy with Team events. Last year`s Championships held in Cape Town South Africa brought some unexpected results. China finished with just one gold medal while Japan dominated winning three titles followed by Korea Republic with two. Romania won the girls’ doubles title for the first time in its history.

 

Junior Boy`s Team event starts on Sunday November 26th by Stage 1 matches. Twelve clubs in total will compete in both Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 winners (12 teams divided in four groups) will join eight top seeds already promoted in the Stage 2. Opening round starts at 10:00.

 

Group A: USA Chile Tunisia

Group B: Sweden Egypt Australia

Group C: Italy Brazil Algeria

Group D: India Argentina New Zealand

 

The same format will be applied in the Junior Girl`s Team event. Groups are following:

 

Group A: Serbia Puerto Rico Tunisia

Group B: Germany Egypt New Zealand

Group C: Czech Republic Italy Australia

Group D: Brazil Canada Algeria

 

Stage 2 is scheduled for Monday November 27th composed by 12 teams as well. Eight top seeds plus four Stage 1 winners will fight for the best two spots in each group. Group winners and runner-ups will reach next stage (1-8). Junior Boy`s Team groups are following:

 

Group E: Japan Germany Group C winner

Group F: China France Group D winner

Group G: Korea Republic Romania Group B winner

Group H: Chinese Taipei Russia Group A winner

 

The same format for Stage 2 will be applied in the Junior Girl`s Team event. Groups are following:

 

Group E: Japan Hong Kong Group A winner

Group F: China USA Group D winner

Group G: Korea Republic Russia Group B winner

Group H: Romania Chinese Taipei Group C winner
