Romania – Turkey 8:6 in gold medals in Albena

The 25th Balkan Youth Table Tennis Championships Albena Bulgaria

 

Romanian National Team won eight gold medals at the 25th Balkan Youth Table Tennis Championships held in the Bulgarian city of Albena. In other six finals all top spots belonged to Turkey.

 

Junior Boys Singles champion is Abdullah Talha YIGENLER who beat Tugay Sirzat YILMAZ in straight games of the all-Turkish final 4:0 (11:7 11:9 11:4 11:2). YINGLER lost just one set on his way to the gold. Romania`s Mihaela PLAEASU was too strong for Turkey`s Simay KULAKCEKEN in the final game of Junior Girls Singles – 4:0 (11:6 11:9 11:8 11:5). PLEASU convincingly won all her encounters except one in the Round 2 when she overcame Turkey`s Betul Nur KAHRAMAN after six sets.

 

Second seed in the Cadet Boys Singles event Romania`s Andrei TOMICA clinched gold as he overcame his compatriot Darius MOVILEANU 4:2 (8:11 13:11 11:8 10:12 11:5 11:9). Top seeded Elena ZAHARIA from Romania secured Cadet Girls Singles gold by winning final match against Sukran CANGIR 4:0 (11:8 11:6 11:6 11:9).

 

Double winners are: Dragos Florin OPREA / Paul MLADIN from Romania (Junior Boys) Betul Nur KAHRAMAN / Simay KULAKCEKEN from Turkey (Junior Girls) Darius MOVILEANU / Andrei TOMICA from Romania (Cadet Boys) and Elena ZAHARIA / Camelia MITROFAN from Romania (Cadet Girls). Turkey`s Abdulah Talha YIGENLER and Simay KULAKCEKEN reached gold in the Junior Mixed Doubles while Romania`s Andrei TOMICA and Elena ZAHARIA are the best Cadet Mixed Double.
