Bulgaria Open: OVTCHAROV clinched gold

German beat Kenta MATSUDAIRA from Japan in the final game of the Seamaster 2017 ITTF World Tour Asarel Bulgaria Open

 

Germany’s Dimitrij OVTCHAROV defeated Japanese Kenta MATSUDAIRA in five games to clinch the gold at the Seamaster 2017 ITTF World Tour Asarel Bulgaria Open event concluded today in the city of Panagyurishte – 4:1 (9:11 11:7 11:4 11:9 11:9). It was OVTCHAROV`s eighth ITTF World Tour Men’s Singles title in 14 final appearances and third one this year after India (February) and China (June).

 

All other titles in Panagyurishte belonged to Japanese players. Women`s Singles final saw like men`s one two top seeding players one against another and again top seed beat the second one: Kasumi ISHIKAWA (Japan) – Mima ITO (Japan) 4:0 (12:10 11:4 11:7 11:5).

 

Sweden’s Matilda EKHOLM and Hungary’s Georgina POTA couldn’t repeat their success from February when they won the Seamaster 2017 India Open in spite of winning easily the opening game of the gold medal contest. They were beaten by no. 2 seed of the Women’s Doubles event Kasumi ISHIKAWA and Mima ITO.

 

Jin UEDA and Maharu YOSHIMURA the top seeds of the Men`s Doubles defeated India’s Soumyajit GHOSH and Sathiyan GNANASEKARAN after full five games of the final.

Women`s Doubles final: Kasumi ISHIKAWA / Mima ITO (Japan) – Matilda EKHOLM (Sweden) / Georgina POTA (Hungary) 3:1 (6:11 11:8 11:9 11:5)
